Annual Gunnison Loop
Adventurous Traditions
Watch the Highlights Reel
Every year, our team at Titus Adventures looks forward to one of our favorite traditions: the annual Guided Overland Trip through the Gunnison National Forest. It is four days of exploring backcountry trails, setting up camp in remote corners of Colorado, and sharing good food and laughter around the fire with new friends. The 2025 trip followed our classic loop, but as always, no two years ever feel the same.
Gathering the Group
We began with a mix of seasoned adventurers and first-time campers, all ready to disconnect from daily life and dive into the wild. After a quick orientation and gear check, we rolled out in a caravan of TAC vehicles and personal 4x4s, guided by our expert staff who know these roads and ridgelines like old friends. The excitement was palpable as engines hummed and the trail opened before us.
Remote Campsites and Hidden Gems
The beauty of this loop is how it moves you from one landscape to another, each night offering a new backdrop for camp. One evening you might be tucked away in the pines with nothing but the sound of a creek nearby, and the next you might find yourself perched high on a ridge with sweeping views of the Gunnison Valley. These aren’t campgrounds marked on maps, but hidden gems we’ve scouted over years of exploring, chosen for seclusion and the kind of peace you can’t find when you’re surrounded by crowds.
Meals That Elevate the Experience
At camp, the work disappears. Our team takes care of the setup, cooking, and cleanup, which leaves guests free to settle in, explore the area, or simply relax with a drink in hand. This year’s menu didn’t disappoint, with gourmet meals prepared trailside and creative camp cocktails that warmed us as the sun dipped and the stars appeared. There is something special about sharing a meal under the open sky, where even the simplest ingredients taste elevated.
Life on the Trail
Days on the trail were a blend of driving, exploring, and soaking up the scenery. Guests could switch between riding in our outfitted rigs or piloting their own 4x4s, giving everyone a chance to experience both comfort and the thrill of driving off-road. Along the way, conversations sparked easily. These trips draw a certain kind of traveler: people who love the outdoors, who are curious, and who find joy in swapping stories under the stars. By the second night, it felt less like a group of strangers and more like a small community on the move.
Evenings Around the Fire
Evenings were often the highlight. We would watch the sky blaze orange and pink at sunset, then gather around the campfire to recap the day’s adventures. The laughter carried, the stars spilled across the sky, and it was impossible not to feel grateful for the chance to be out there, together, in such a wild and beautiful place.
The Journey Home
By the time the loop brought us back to our starting point, there was that bittersweet mix of satisfaction and reluctance. Everyone was tired in the best possible way: dusty, a little sun-kissed, and carrying memories of trails conquered and friendships formed.
That is what makes the annual Gunnison loop so special. It is not just about the four days of camping, though the views, meals, and trails are unforgettable.
It is about stepping into an experience where everything is taken care of and you are free to focus on the joy of the journey. It is about finding connection, both with the landscape and with the people who share it with you. And it is about returning home with stories that only the backcountry can give you.
Lasting Impressions
“Outstanding Overlanding Adventure with Jason and Terrance of Titus Adventure Company!
Our 4-day overlanding trip exceeded all expectations, thanks to the exceptional planning and care provided by Jason and Terrance. They handled everything—from supplying all the camping gear, food, and cooking equipment to meticulously designing the route. The route was perfect, featuring breathtaking views and well-timed stops at each location.
The light hiking activities, including climbs over 12,000 feet, were just right for the group, offering stunning scenery without being too strenuous. There were 11 of us, including Jason and Terrance, and everyone bonded wonderfully—everyone was friendly, compatible, and enjoyed the experience immensely.
I am truly amazed by Jason and Terrance’s dedication and commitment to making this adventure the best it could be. Their passion and effort made all the difference. We’re already looking forward to our next trip!”
